    Dino – Yes it will, we have sold may diesel engines as re powers to replace big block gas engines to customer looking for better fuel economy. The diesel engine operates at lower rpm ranges than the gas engines so depending on what ratio your Bravo Drive is will determine if it is usable with a diesel engine or not. The ratios that will work are 1.5:1, 1.65:1, 1.81:1 or a 2.0:1, now as far as which one of these is best for you will depend on the weight of the boat and its size.

    Corey – The 6.5L diesel is a big block engine not a small block like the Chev 350 so depending on the size of the engine compartment it may or may not fit.

    I have a 350 Chevy engine with heat exchange and 1.9 to 1 velvet drive , i am wanting to put a diesel engine in it it is a 25 ‘ Jefferson Lafitte skiff that i use for shrimping I am looking for something with more power that will fit in the same engine box and be able to use the same manifold and such

    Peninsular has a new 310 hp 6.5 liter turbocharged diesel that fits the same imprint as the 7400 merc engine. The differences are
    we have a larger engine mount for distributing the weight better. The Peninsular is within 75 lbs of the gasoline engine and has more power in the midrange than the gasoline engine at nominal cruise rpm.
    Our engine is slightly narrower at a 29 1/2 inch width and is 2.4 9inches longer.

    Our engine has the Borg Warner Bolt Pattern so the engine just bolts up to the BorgWarner velvet drive transmission. We Equip the Diesel with a drive or damper plate with the same spline as the Borg.

    The fuel line size is the same at 3/8 of an inch in diameter.
    The return line is 1/4 or 3/8th

    Sea Water is 1& 1/2 inch intake minimum.

    Exhaust is 5 inch.
